Discover the heart of island living
Environment • Culture • Community • Property — a vibrant hub for Russell Island and the Southern Moreton Bay Islands.
Welcome to Island Living
Russell Island is the largest of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands (SMBI), set between the mainland and North Stradbroke Island. Passenger ferries run seven days a week from Redland Bay, servicing Russell, Macleay, Lamb and Karragarra. The islands have a friendly, small-town feel with growing amenities, easy access to nature, and a relaxed pace.
Everyday essentials
Shops, IGA supermarket, cafés and bakery, RSL and Bowls clubs, swimming pool, sports pitches and courts, primary school, art gallery, medical facilities and pharmacy. Police, fire, ambulance and SES operate on the island.
Getting here and around
Passenger and vehicle ferries operate from Weinam Creek Marina, Redland Bay, with frequent services through the day and extra runs at commuter peaks. Inter-island travel is simple and sheltered. Bikes are great for short trips.
What to expect
Calm bays, mangroves and wetlands; community markets; creative studios; friendly clubs; and plenty of easy day adventures.
